@Piloto_Steve @redpilldispensr To be fair most probably expect them to come from satellite imagery, because most of it does. Sometimes there’s just no subsititite for a good old aerial survey though

@BankerWeimar @redpilldispensr We don’t tend to have fields the size of half a county here. Imagine how much you’d need to carry to spray an area that size! It’ll be an aerial survey, collecting imagery data such as used to make high resolution base maps.

@Alys_Wanderland @GigaBasedDad He was referred to as the Moor, and black, but may have been one or neither. Because ‘Moor’ was used to refer to all dark-skinned people instead, but also words used to refer to colour didn’t mean what they mean today - eg black used like ‘swarthy’ with negative connotation

@jemmm85517813 @miriam_cates Well objectively it’s the opposite: the less you earn the less it adds up to; not only that the less by proportion of your overall income too, due to the personal allowance. In fact it’s also why people complain when taxes are cut, because ‘the less you earn the less you benefit’

@paullewismoney In the same way that savings interest is apparently “earned” I guess. We call it earned when we want to tax it as such and not because “working” is a condition to receive it; in truth there is little objective definition to the term really, we weaponise it to mean what we want

@deankelly247 @fesshole But that is the purpose of raising the minimum wage - to narrow the gap by forcing employers to increase their pay closer to those above it. That can’t happen if everyone’s wage rose by the same proportion, as then prices rise and they continue to fall behind.

@gmanh123 @vickyallover It IS amazing. I learned it 20 years ago in Oz as the Tim-Tam trick but works just as well with a penguin. You have to shove it in your gob quick though as it melts straight away (that’s what’s so amazing about it)

@ExtropianEric @ProfBrianCox Firstly it’s disputed if eyes are convergent or parallel - but the point is there ARE no independent evolutionary heritages, we are all DNA-based. You assume eyes because you assume light, why not gamma rays? Even assuming evolution is earth-centric, and why even assume matter?

@ExtropianEric @ProfBrianCox We see only the end of a path of almost infinite branches, even the very concept of organs, eyes or ‘sight’ are very far from likely, let alone that they would be arranged in a segmented body plan and even less one with 2 vertical ‘legs’, a pair of ‘eyes’ on the front of a ‘head’

@ExtropianEric @ProfBrianCox The problem is our entire frame of reference is earthly. As humans we can’t even imagine the total solution space for intelligent life. When we say ‘convergent evolution’, it’s still within the same Earth conditions and having diverged stepwise from a common segmented body plan.

@tobyontour @fesshole Your implication that she has spent more relies on the assumption that, had she not done this, the number of fines would be exactly 1. Why? He could have been fined the very first time, fined multiple times etc. If we knew exactly when we’d be fined there’d be no risk at all
