@RUGBY_STR_COACH Exercise as punishment doesn't build toughness. It builds resentment.
Sending the signal that running or navigating the discomfort that comes with it is something that is negative, that should be avoided.
Being at a big school doesn’t automatically make you a great coach.
Being at a D2, D3, high school, etc. doesn’t make you any less of a coach.
Make the big time where you’re at. Impact lives. Build relationships. Leave it BETTER than you found it. This is what matters most!
Root for people. Help them reach their goals. Be kind. Be happy for others.
Life is already hard enough. Help others. Lift them up.
It won’t just change their life, it’ll change yours too.
In before teams blame their cramping today on dehydration/electrolytes/not warming up properly/athletes not taking care of their bodies.
You cramp because you spent all summer preparing guys to do stuff that doesn't look like or touch the intensity or density of the game.
Mental toughness is not only nonsense, it's a poor phrase to describe what it's meant to. What does exist are a spectrum of individual, and differentiated, psychological skills; and each individual requires a nuanced development of the ones that serve them most optimally
One thing I might do differently than others is when a player gets hurt, I am often literally sick to my stomach from abject failure. Reasons, excuses aside, it’s still failure.
Dear sport coaches, if you know more about S&C than your S&C coach then you hired the wrong one. I’ve actually never seen it happen though. Let them do their jobs! We work for arguably the best of all time and he’s never told us how to do our jobs.
Strength coaches who only want to debate training are in for a rude awakening in the coming years.
The field is evolving as are the number of unique topics that shape it.
Knowing how to teach people to move & lift is NOT the job.
Dealing with people & chaos is!
There’s way more to preparing athletes for their sport than strength. Strength is a part of it.
The bigger part is preparing your athletes for the actual demands of the sport.
Movements
Workloads
Intensities
Don’t miss the forest for the trees.
In the last 7 days, I’ve had 3 friends leave Collegiate Strength & Conditioning
When will their be a better plan in place to create a sustainable future for strength coaches?
Hours, pay, and care for coaches is terrible
I don't agree with excessively loud music in a weight room. If I can't coach athletes across a weight room, or if I can’t get someone’s attention due to a potential safety concern, then I can't do my job well.
