Looks like Google quietly updated the Read Aloud functionality of Assistant and made it an overlay.

Except everything else about it is worse.

I can't figure out how to make it follow along with the text like it used to or how to tap on a certain word to start playback from that moment.

It also no longer shows the playback notification and stops playing when I switch to another app, meaning background playback is dead.

This completely ruins the whole feature for me. Why @google @Android @davey_burke??

@ArtemR This update ruined the feature completely. You can't even choose the read-aloud voice. It also doesn't read text as well as it used to. For example: U.S Sen. Tim Scott is read correctly on my pixel 7 but not my pixel 8. (I'll post examples soon)

@GooglePixel_US @Google I just realized that my new Google Pixel doesn't have the ability to do a PhotoSphere 😭.

Why was it removed and are you guys playing to release the source code?

The detail and quality of a PhotoSphere is way better than any two lens fisheye camera.
