We have organized against evictions of working class households in Islamabad since 1999. The Pakistani state & CDA in particular, have always employed the language of violence to deal with katchi abadis. But the present regime is unhinged in a way we have never seen before.

Delighted to be co-convening a training workshop for graduate students and early-career scholars on writing regional histories!
While the workshop is primarily designed for historians, we warmly welcome participants from other disciplines whose work resonates with the theme. Our aim is to rethink the region or locale as a central unit of historical analysis for a more intimate understanding of the past and to explore its richness and complexities beyond the frame of national or state-centric narratives.
The workshop will be led by an inspiring mix of young and senior scholars, including Ilyas Chattha, Abdul Aijaz, Saman Tariq, and Shandana Waheed.
It promises to be an excellent learning opportunity, so don’t miss out, apply now!

@MaryamShKhan Yes Pashtuns migrated there mostly because of the war on terror(most of which settled there now) and Humeira Iqtidar beautifully described their experiences in Lahore as how they are producing alternative narratives to citizenship and belongings in lahore.

Before the advent of the internet, sending Eid greetings to friends and family was a special tradition, and one popular way to do so was through postcards. I'm sharing an old "Eid Mubarak" postcard that features the renowned Indian classical singer, Kajjan Bai, from Patna, Bihar.
@_SophieSchol You can find a list of notable works being done on Pashtun's historiography. Though some of books/articles connect with what you have asked but not all of them. My own thesis is on PTM, if interested, shot me a mail at [email protected]

My father @wiqar_shah has been appointed as "Professor Emeritus", which further proves his continuous dedication towards the field of History and his motivation to teach students different aspects of South Asian history.
