🚨New paper alert!🚨 Cells integrate signals into decision-making. But how do levels of signaling influence cell-fate transitions? Is more always better? Or is there an “optimal” level for cell-fate programming? If we could tune signaling, could optimize production of neurons? Read on! (1/n)🧵
Are you using phospho-ERK staining to infer Ras/MAPK signaling history of fixed cells?
Check out our recent work demonstrating how this can be misleading, and how to get more spatio-temporal information out of immunofluorescence staining.

Hi bio+ML folks! Check out our recent work modeling live-cell microscopy data with fixed-cell protein measurements.
Here are cells expressing a biosensor of an enzyme, followed by multiplexed immunofluorescence staining of several proteins in the same cells.

We used machine learning methods to tackle this unique dataset and learn about the underlying biology. In short, we created models that infer long/short term enzyme behavior using effector protein levels. This leads to improved methods to infer signaling history of fixed cells!
Our review on apoptosis-induced ERK waves is out in Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology! Thanks to @PertzL, @macdobry & all colleagues studying ERK dynamics! https://t.co/HczrF1xfe9
The funny thing about this video is that everyone who actually knows the answer is saying “this is an interesting question, and we shouldn’t shame curiosity” while all the people who don’t know the answer are mocking her.
@exosome@SabinehazanMD Maybe add some nuance the paper? “While neither agent alone showed efficacy in vivo, combination therapy with ivermectin and checkpoint inhibitor anti-PD1 antibody achieved synergy in limiting tumor growth”
I’m at a cancer treatment center getting my 27th dose of radiation. My doctor recommends 35. @UHC refuses to pay for more than 28. I’ve fought them for weeks to get full treatment approved. This is my Hail Mary to hopefully get them to reconsider.
I'll be giving my Ph.D. exit seminar this Friday, July 5th at 4pm PST. Please join via zoom if you're interested in learning about my dissertation research on modeling MAP Kinase signaling dynamics.
Check out our recent review on the ever-evolving #MAPK/#ERK signaling dynamics. It never ceases to amaze me how one of the most studied signaling pathways continues to deliver new surprises. Thanks to @paoloarmando83 for writing this with me.

The preprint from my dissertation work is out! Working on the revisions now so keep an eye out for the final version! #ERK#MAPK@albecklab@InSiDE_Seminar https://t.co/42mzRFrp4c
@PavithranRavind@albecklab Thanks for the share! I just wanted to clarify that we need a series of IF images to make a prediction about the signaling history.
