Trying to untangle the etymological knot of the English word "horse." I'm used to some relationship to Latin (equus), Germanic (pferde) or Scandinavian (hest), or borrowing from Romance languages (cheval, jumet, or caballo) or Greek (hippos or alogo). But what's up with "horse"?
