🤝 While MG India needs to be credited with the pricing of its PHEV its the price for democratising the tech the price is banger indeed.

🏷️ PHEV doesn’t replaces Ev ,PHEV can be replacement of poor mileage petrol engines ,where running breaks even extra spending on PHEV ,can it be a diesel ⛽️ replacement no idea ,as that torque for example diesel Hector torque is 350 Nm vs PHEV torque of 237 Nm ,only diesel lovers will tell if they want Ev drive locally

🏷️ If someone claims PHEV is Ev replacement then he or she is grossly mistaken

🏷️ MG Hector TMHK EV makes every sense vs PHEV — any day !!

🫵🏻 At ₹4.3 lakh more vs an EV with the same level of equipment

🏷️ you essentially get a dual headache — you have to manage both an electric powertrain AND an ICE engine.

👉 You have to charge both to extract maximum efficiency.

👉 So, you need to get a home charger for both yes BEV & PHEV both

👉 For people who don’t have a home charger, it doesn’t make any sense at all to buy either of them

👉 Why not then charge an EV instead of a PHEV ?

👉 For local travel, a PHEV just doesn’t make sense (if u have go hook a charger at home)

👉 PHEV : 30-80% with a 25 kW (peak) Dcfc ,in 35 min ,3.3 kW (7.5 hr)

👉 EV : 30-80% with 90 kW (peak) in 35 min ,7.4 kW (12.5 hr)

Means on highway its charging time is similar 🤣 of course compatible dcfc for Ev is required 25 kW is really easy but 90 kW ain’t uncommon now

Hence, EV >> PHEV.

👉 On highways, if my EV battery (PHEV) is low — let’s say at 20% — and the time for 30% to 80% is around 35 minutes on a 25 kW charger, I am doing a Tiago.ev 🤣.

👉 Even if one claims, “I would do destination charging,” I can still do 830–850 km on EV with one bio break or eating break.

👉 For that extra 160–170 km, why do I need to spend ₹4.3 lakh more ?

👉 Why not get my EV charged, move on ? Of course, charging infrastructure is reliable now it’s getting better

👉 EV ownership, service and everything else would be cheaper vs a PHEV — the engine also needs servicing.

🫵🏻 Moral: A PHEV doesn’t replace a BEV.

👉 Thinking about that one highway trip where I need to charge even my PHEV to extract maximum efficiency — why would I prefer a PHEV over a BEV ? Not at all

👉 BEV does the EV job better, while avoiding the complexity of carrying an ICE powertrain along. ⚡️🔋

🏷️ U can’t be driving 1000 km at a stretch without having a break ,India isn’t a country where u don’t find amenities at 300-400 km

🫵🏻 My stand currently is BEVs any day over PHEV (we need to see how the tech reliability is there ,vs real world performance on our fuels ) then may be my opinion changes

With now they backing up better platforms and accelerating release timelines, I see them taking a lot of Tata share in ICE and EV. Mahindra will face competition from MG on XUV 7xo but are relatively better off

1. If opting for BaaS — you have take 2 loans. No battery only loan. That is just a car loan with lower principal amount.

2. Total loan amount in single or dual loan case is the same. Investing in FD etc will yield same return but you'll save in final paid amount if you opt for a single loan.

3. Final principal amount is decided by the lender. The above shown scenario is the best possible deal.

@tushv24 I don't understand what is the group's obsession about sub 4m for the ev. There is no 4m tax for EVs, if battery cost is 70% of total car cost, they can just reduce Creta ev price to make it competitive instead of releasing another smaller ev in the 15-20 lakhs price range.
