As promised: here is our @sequoia Gen AI market map V2! Very thankful for the hundreds of folks who wrote in additions and edits. AI people are amazing 🥹
Over the last few days I have heard a lot about @ycombinator companies closing their seed round only with angels and small funds (250k checks), up to 3-4 m$. This is a really new trend. What does this means for startups and seed funds ? Few thoughts on that 👇
Extraordinary times require extraordinary action. There are no limits to our commitment to the euro. We are determined to use the full potential of our tools, within our mandate.
New York has become the new center of gravity of European tech.
London and SF are still relevant, but the new generation of European startups with global ambitions now overwhelmingly chooses New York as they scale. Started as a trickle, now a full-on flood.
Some trends in VC right now - it's an interesting time of bifurcation and money:
1) At the early stages (call it pre-A or the whole "seed range"), I'm seeing lots of bifurcation. On one hand, in the Silicon Valley, for some founders, it's never been an easier time to raise.
Nearly 100M people in Europe work in small to medium enterprises (SMEs). Yet these are the very same businesses that have been most poorly served by software. Not any longer, as the story of @PersonioHR shows, @martinmignot writes.

French tech is booming: we had $3.1 billion in fundraising in 2017, $4 billion in 2018 and probably around $5.5 billion in 2019
President Emmanuel Macron just announced several actions to support the French tech ecosystem :
#Frenchtech
- The creation of two indexes to showcase the most promising french start-ups: Next 40, French tech 120
- The creation of a fast-track administrative system for these start-ups
- Institutional investors have committed to investing $5.5 billion (€5 billion) in start-ups
Optimism, ambition, and recruiting. Will this recipe work for your startup too? Yes. In fact you could make the case that it has been the recipe for all great organizations.
