If I buy a cup of gelato, and then midway through my delicious experience I realize you have RAISED THE FLOOR of the gelato cup to fill the bottom with air, we WILL have a problem
@arawnsbig@seld_on You would still have expected to see an increase in the rate of decline of TFR upon the homicide rate lowering under Bukele, which you don’t
@thedulab One’s world view is projected onto their interpretation of the mundane. NYC is just a city with people; it’s actually you who introduces this wealth comparison amongst people, even if your conclusion is sound.
Your post really tells us more about you than NYC.
@mgaffneyny@pootsobotka Ok I just walked by and was wondering why people were camping outside swatch and told myself must be for something other than swatch but no it’s actually swatch wow impressive
Great introduction of Advanced level walking. Also worth a mention- Expert level walking involves the preemptive turn methodology. Imagine a right triangle mapping out your nw/es streets between your location and destination, and the hypotenuse is your shortest path. It is obviously not ideal to follow one of the sides of the triangle- purely because you were not forced to turn. To see this, note that doing so may result in you having to stop multiple times when you are making it down the other side of the triangle, with no ability to zig-nor zag. This means that the optimal walking strategy is a zigzagging methodology, however which continually reverts to the hypotenuse. This provides ample opportunity for future zigzagging. In fact this can be formalized and for any given route the zig-zag-preemptive-turn-optimal (or ZZPTO) route can be computed. If you want to call yourself an Expert level walker, you should be continually computing this while walking.
