@forgebitz Nobody ever did 8 hours of hard thinking a day. It was always 3-4 hours of real work padded with honest, useful, easy stuff. AI ate the padding. The 3-4 hours didn't grow — the pretending did.

12 years ago it was "thousands of microservices."

Today it's "thousands of deploys per day."

Same hype cycle. Same crowd chasing metrics that sound impressive but mean nothing to end users.

Spotify does 4,500 deploys/day with AI. Users say the app hasn't gotten better in years, arguably worse.

We don't need more deploys. We need better software.

Stop measuring output. Start measuring outcomes.

It's reducing the time between:

AI gives everyone access to information.
Execution still separates people.

Learn fast. Build faster. Repeat relentlessly.

"Will AI replace software engineers?"

Shopify is asking a better question:

"How do 3,000 engineers operate like 100,000?"

That's the mindset shift.

AI isn't replacing engineers.

It's removing bottlenecks.

The bottleneck has moved from writing code to understanding problems, validating solutions, and making better decisions.

Code is becoming abundant.

Judgment is becoming scarce.
