@SpaceAbhi Pioneer made many of the Viking style parachutes that landed rovers on Mars. The Mars 2020 parachute was made by @AirborneSysNA, the same company that make the main parachutes for SpaceX.
Last year, our LOFTID inflatable heat shield came screaming back from space at 18,000+ mph, reaching temps of nearly 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit before gently splashing down in the Pacific Ocean.

The LOFTID team successfully retrieved the mission’s ejectable data module from the Pacific Ocean on Thursday morning, which holds a backup copy of the data recorded during the demonstration. The recovery vessel will now make its way back to port. More: https://t.co/C6t3zQy8rP

@sturmf1@genejm29 Parachutes, especially in clusters, operate in a more complex manner than we understood just a few years ago. Serious continuing examination of in flight performance is warranted. Stay hungry as my old boss used to say - and said again today.
