Rejecting anti-aging campaigns isn't about defying time; it's about embracing the richness of every wrinkle and gray hair. Let's shift the conversation from fear of aging to celebrating the beauty of evolving gracefully. Ageism has no place in our society. #AdvocacyInAging24
@LadyTiv Absolutely! I think everyone should have a chance to display and practice what they are best at. There's so much talent around us, nobody should be discriminated against on the basis of age.
Age is but a chapter in a dog's story, not the conclusion. Let's flip the script on ageism in shelters and embrace the seasoned souls who have so much love left to give. #AdvocacyInAging24
@PReetzke The vast array of ideas about aging and the different opinions were very exciting to hear. It really shows the different perspectives and approaches that exist. #AdvocacyInAging24
@jpowel91 I agree! every age is wonderful, there's nothing to be ashamed about but somehow terms like these often try to as you said, imply that there is a factor of shame associated with their age. #AdvocacyInAging24
There are countless tweets I come across in a day, which talk about how certain celebrities look like they "hadn't aged a day" but the truth is, aging is real and natural, and each day we live, we age. Aging should be embraced. #AdvocacyInAging24
@annasanadvocate I noticed that too while interviewing people this week, education is truly important as most people don't even recognize when they are being discriminated against.
@agepositively92 I couldn't agree more. I think 'old' is a beautiful word, one that can be associated to many things, like @annasanadvocate said, we often think about words like 'old friend' or old traditions an even old memories or photos which make us relive some of the beautiful moments again.
This weeks guest lecture made me look at dementia from a whole new perspective and approach. From having known the minimum about dementia previously, this lecture motivated me to research and study about living with dementia as life goes on. #AdvocacyInAging24
@ZariaBell00@LadyTiv Physical growth is something I wonder about quite frequently myself as well. I can't help but wonder about the process of aging and experiences we garner along the way.
According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) 20 percent of adults over the age of 50 were recorded to have experienced age based discrimination in healthcare and healthcare-based settings. #AdvocacyInAging24
@Aging24KDixson It is absolutely saddening to see the number of ageist stereotypes that plague the minds of the public and society, the proliferation of these stereotypes is a massive contributor the way public treats old people, which isn't always the nicest, stereotypes need to be erased.
@ZariaBell00 I really enjoyed your presentation, it not only made me realize how prevalent ageist behaviors were on tiktok in the form of trends but also how the plague other features like filters, etc. #AdvocacyinAging24
Robert Frost once illustrated that 'the afternoon knows what the morning never suspected'—a poignant reflection on the essence of aging and growing old. Aging is a valuable gift; experiences are irreplaceable. #AdvocacyInAging24
@HollyR73240 Absolutely! It seems like an ongoing trend amongst such campaigns to use younger models. There is little to no inclusion for others. #AdvocacyInAging24
