Very similar forms of nationalism:
- Both fuse victimhood with ethnic chauvinism
- Both represent victims of Nazi genocide - and use that crime to justify their own genocidal behaviour
- Both weaponise Islamophobia
- Both committed to building ethno-states
Why is it so common for Israeli analysts to constantly predict that they will have war with their neighbours, including the ones with whom they have peace agreements?
So if you apply this logic to the 4,000 citizens of Lebanon that Israel has killed in their invasion, you’d have to ask how the US would react to an invading force killing 235,000 Americans, many of them women and children.
You really don’t want to do this calculation for Gaza.

A Trump official says the U.S. president is, right now, ‘madder at the Israelis than the Iranians.’

VIDEO | "We have flattened the entire first line of villages in southern Lebanon, all the houses have been destroyed. The residents will never see them standing ever again."
In a stark acknowledgment of systemic ethnic cleansing, Israeli War Minister Israel Katz boasted on Friday that the Israeli military has completely obliterated the entire first tier of Lebanese border villages.
Framing the mass destruction as a permanent "security zone", Katz explicitly declared that the 200,000 displaced Lebanese residents "are not returning."
"For every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep. All of Lebanon must burn!"
He sounds like a Nazi.
If this wasn't Israel, everybody would say he sounds like a Nazi.
There is some poetic justice in that Israel is the biggest loser in the US-Iran deal, since it was Israel who aggressively pushed for this idiotic war of choice.
And if it leads to Netanyahu losing the elections and ending up in jail, the justice will be near complete.
This is incredible.
Israel has repeatedly blown up entire apartment blocks on this basis - in Gaza, Lebanon and beyond.
Donald Trump is admitting to an Israeli war crime which has specifically killed tens of thousands of civilians.
It's a confession!
The pro-war voices led by Netanyahu underestimated the resilience of the Tehran regime, both in terms of military capacity and its popular foundations in Iranian society.
Now they're getting exactly what they didn't want.
My take.

Israeli soldiers shot a 7 month old baby dead.
They then lied about it.
This is what the Israeli state does.
They commit war crimes, lie about it, commit more war crimes, lie about it, in an endless cycle of murderous horror.
New footage obtained by B’Tselem uncovers the moments when the Abu Haikal family was shot. Seven-month-old Sam Abu Haikal was killed in the shooting, and both his parents were injured. The footage clearly shows that the Israeli soldier fired at the car as it was slowing to a stop. The car was far from the soldiers and posed no danger to them whatsoever.
Moments later, in another video obtained by B’Tselem, seven-month-old Sam’s father, Fahed, is seen just after his son was shot. Fahed is holding baby Sam in his arms, trying to stop the bleeding from his head with his hands, while Sam’s mother, Daniyah, who was also injured by the gunfire while holding her son, is seen sitting on the ground, next to the car.
Last Friday, 5 June, an Israeli soldier fired at a Palestinian family driving home from a family visit, as they sat in their car in the Tel Rumeidah neighborhood in Hebron. The family was shot as the car was slowing to a stop at the soldier’s command. Sam, a sevenmonth‑old baby who was in his mother’s arms in the back seat, was struck in the head and pronounced dead shortly afterward. Sam’s parents were also injured by the gunfire; his mother is still in the hospital. After the shooting, the soldier who fired and another soldier who was with him left the scene without checking the car or offering any assistance to the critically wounded baby or to his mother.
In the past two and a half years, Israel has killed tens of thousands of children in Gaza and the West Bank. The immunity it gets from the international community has led to a reality where, under Israeli rule, Palestinian lives are entirely disposable – even a seven‑month‑old baby.
The magnitude of what just happened may take some time to sink in.
This is the first time Iran has struck Israel after Israel struck another country's territory (that is, not Iran).
This means that the battle lines have been moved.
Iran's deterrence had already been restored in the sense that Israel knew that any strike on it would be responded to.
But now, Iran has proven that it will also respond to Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
This is the first time in decades that a regional power has the means, capacity, and willingness to put hard power against Israeli military maneuvers or aggression against a third party.

Good. Let's talk about Marwan Barghouti.
Imprisoned for 25 years.
An inter-Parliamentary Union report found he was not given a fair trial.
Nelson Mandela: “What is happening to Barghouti is exactly the same as what happened to me."
Free Marwan.

For the first since the Oslo accord, Israel is seizing land for an army base inside an occupied West Bank city. The seizure order, near Jenin refugee camp, is the latest move aimed at expanding the Israeli military and settler presence. https://t.co/qRIQi48Q6z
