@elonmusk@Tesla Model X Plaid only has a 6 seat configuration!! Dude I got 11 kids and need a minimum of 7 seats. And going 0-60 in sub 3sec is critical for school drop off.
@MattSilver 100% but I’d argue it’s not in their DNA. They have had a strangle hold on the market place for decades. They’re publically traded as well meaning at their scale the capex required vs the ROI means a long tail 10-15yr payback and they’re living Q by Q or at best annually.
As a freight forwarder the moment we heard this news of this merger it felt the like the final moments of Forward Air being the #1 choice for their respective role in linehaul. Omni is a competitor to the largest base of Forward Air customers, the forwarder. Very odd decision unless they see little no growth for their main line business.
A few years back we received a cold call from a CT number from someone claiming to need us to move the MLS trophy around the country during playoffs. I played along, after about 2 weeks of discussion, we picked up at ESPN offices and started the journey of the MLS cup around the US.
@FreightAlley The models built by FX and UPS need ~20m parcels per night to support their balance sheet and future investments. Amazon’s strategy and likewise the strategy of asset-light providers allows for volume flexibility and ability to withstand much more volatile demand change.
There is a lot of room in this space. Amazon will always focus on problems that fill their specific needs. They aren’t the only ones who believe there is a more efficient way than owning every piece of equipment and employing every single driver. Stay flexible with demand and capacity planning spread out asset management.
@MattSilver 100% that why we believe it is critical to reduce risk of delays crossing the border by having a strong relationship with brokerages and being part of CTPAT and AEO groups.
