Al Soussi
📍 Beirut, Lebanon 🇧
Taste Lebanon: https://t.co/jvbqa90kBw
Operating for over 130 years, Al Soussi is a true Beirut institution. There are no fancy tablecloths or pretenses here, just pure, unapologetic breakfast tradition served straight from the heart.
The star of the show is their iconic fatteh—warm chickpeas layered over crunchy toasted pita, smothered in garlic yogurt, and drenched in a piping hot pour of sizzling butter and pine nuts. It is unpretentious, deeply comforting, and perfected over generations.

UNICEF is outraged by the killing of two drivers of trucks contracted by UNICEF to provide clean water to families in the Gaza Strip.
The victims were killed by Israeli fire in an incident that took place early this morning at the Mansoura water filling point in northern Gaza. UNICEF extends our condolences to the families of the men killed.

Thank you Ambassador @KumarIyerUK for your support to @WHO’s work.
We greatly value the #UK’s participation at the #EB158 and your longstanding commitment to #HealthForAll.
For more than two decades, UNAMI has worked with Iraq to advance security, democracy, gender equality and human rights.
As Iraq welcomes a new dawn, we congratulate and honor the dedication and sacrifice of the UNAMI family, and the resilience and determination of the Iraqi people to build a peaceful and prosperous country.
The United Nations continues to remain with Iraq in this endeavor of ensuring sustainable peace, human rights and development for all.

For 80 years, the UN has been a beacon of hope in times of turmoil.
As global conflicts, crises & challenges put millions at risk, the UN will continue its vital work in the year ahead assisting vulnerable people and delivering for those most in need.

The people of Yemen demand and deserve peace.
I call on everyone to prioritize dialogue over violence. Any unilateral actions that could inflame this fragile situation are unacceptable.
The @UN remains committed to supporting the Yemeni people along the path to peace.
On this International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People we reaffirm a simple truth:
The Palestinian people have a right to dignity, justice & self-determination.
Yet over the last 2 years, these rights have been violated beyond comprehension.
I repeat my call for an end to the unlawful occupation of the Palestinian Territory. I also reiterate my call for irreversible progress towards a two-State solution, with Israel & Palestine living side by side in peace & security.

Happy birthday, UN! Here are your birthday wishes from countries around the world 🇺🇳
80 years ago, on 24 October 1945, the UN officially came into existence. On this UN day, let us choose, once again, the path of hope. To uphold the principles of our Charter. To act when action is needed. Because for the UN to endure another 80 years, we must be better together.
Thank you to all permanent representatives in New York who participated!
For 80 years, the Security Council has shaped the UN and the course of history.
But, without a Security Council fit for purpose, the world is in grave danger.
Reform of the Council is imperative, and long overdue – including expanding its membership.

For 80 years, the @UN has worked to forge peace, tackle poverty & hunger, advance human rights & build a more sustainable world,.
Now, more than ever, the world must recommit to solving problems no nation can solve alone.
On this #UNDay, let’s stand together & act as one.
UN Spokesperson on disturbing accusations coming from Ansar Allah leadership against UN aid workers.
☑️ Categorically rejects any and all accusations that UN personnel or UN operations in #Yemen were involved in any activities not consistent with humanitarian mandate.
☑️ Calling UN staff spies or in other contexts terrorists is unacceptable and puts their lives everywhere at risk.
☑️ We will continue to call for the end to the arbitrary detention of 53 of our colleagues, some held without contact for many years.
☑️They need to be released, alongside the NGO workers and those from diplomatic missions.
☑️The work we do in Yemen and humanitarian work we do everywhere is guided by principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence.
☑️The reason we're in Yemen, the reason our humanitarian colleagues are in Yemen is to help the Yemeni people.
I urge all to fully abide by the terms of the agreement to secure a ceasefire & hostage release in Gaza.
All hostages must be released in a dignified manner.
A permanent ceasefire must be secured.
Full, safe & sustained access for humanitarian workers must be granted.
We have all waited far too long for this moment.
Now we must make it truly count.
The @UN Charter is not optional.
It is the bedrock of international relations.
We cannot & must not normalize violations of its most basic principles.
Now more than ever, we must respect & re-commit to international law — in words & deeds.
#CharterDay
I am deeply alarmed by the further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
I strongly condemn today's attack by Iran on Qatar, a country that has been active for peace in the region and further afield.
