N.V. Veera was a local leader in the ruling TVK. He served as the party’s joint secretary for Chengalpattu East and president of the Mambakkam Panchayat Union.

A video that surfaced allegedly captured him accepting ₹1.3 lakh as a bribe from a road works contractor.

Media reports indicate that, under the direct instructions of Chief Minister Vijay, he was expelled from the party and removed from all positions.

He was not merely suspended. He was permanently removed from the party.

Later, an FIR was registered and he was arrested by the Tambaram Police.

This sends the right message of zero tolerance towards corruption, to both government employees and members of the ruling party.

As I repeatedly say, if the state and the public continue to stick with this approach, eliminating corruption from Tamil Nadu is not very far away.

Amid the ongoing debate over E20 fuel, the Raipur Consumer Court has directed Maruti Suzuki to provide the complainant with a new E20 fuel-compatible car of the same model within 45 days.

Failing that, the company has been ordered to refund the full cost of the vehicle, along with ₹1 lakh as compensation for 'mental harassment' and ₹10,000 towards litigation expenses.

Just look at how dramatic and dishonest Abhijeet Dipke is at the CJP protest

Dipke first created drama by pretending to fall at the police officer's feet. Then, the moment the officer merely touched him while trying to help him up, he immediately said, "Aap mujhe maar kyon rahe ho?"

You can clearly see for yourself that the police officer did nothing to him, yet he was still playing the victim card.

Lost three friends in a week, each totally unexpected. I used to love Pink Floyd's 'Time,' but I think they got it wrong.
Growing up, we didn't lie in the sunshine and stay home to watch the rain.
We didn't miss the starting gun.
Most of us started running even before the starting gun went off, and never stopped. We ran and ran and ran and forgot at some point why we were running, or which race we were running, just that we were convinced that we somehow needed to keep running.
If you are one of those that figured out that every race has a finish line, and you don't need to keep running forever, good for you.
For the rest, just ask yourself if you opted into this event, or did you just see the crowd start moving and followed, anxious not to miss out.

1-7 July was a week I'll remember for a long time.

By profession.. I'm an Advocate who specialises in Real Estate.

Weather has always been my passion. But this week both worlds peaked at the same time.

Friday & Saturday were brutal. I had slept for just 50 minutes in an entire 24 hour period, didn't get one full hour. The rest was office work, deal closures, radar monitoring, media calls, forecasts and nonstop updates to family, clients, relatives, friends & on Twitter. Tried catching up on 4-5 hours of sleep the next day after barely sleeping the previous night. Woke up to missed calls and instantly wished I'd been awake to track the situation.

Alarms at 1:30 AM, 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM became routine. I woke up on purpose because it's July anything can happen to Mumbai overnight. There was no schedule. Only responsibility.

Many people see the forecasts. Very few see what happens behind them.

Every monsoon teaches something. This one taught me how much responsibility comes with people's trust.

I don't forecast because it's my profession. I do it because when Mumbai comes to a standstill, someone has to stay awake, track the weather and keep people informed throughout the night.

Back to being a lawyer every morning. Back to being a weatherman every night.

No complaints. Just responsibility.
