@donkersgood@__steele@eoins That is much more similar to what I've observed even without EFO on Kinesis at high volumes. Ever since 2015 (https://t.co/8FZiyAtV0V) busy readers have had near-zero latency.
@bikeboy1962 That is a nasty little bit of hill though. When the pavement there gets rough (which happens quickly), it's not a nice descent. I appreciate the sign
@zackkanter@saarw For in-region use cases, no data transfer costs at all (like most API-based AWS services, no inter-AZ costs either). I expect only rare users are reading queues cross region or out of AWS.
“The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority has closed all the parks and trails under their authority, including the popular Ballona Creek bike path, and at least some portions of the LA River bike path.”

@QuinnyPig@awscloud Eh it works pretty well for simple Elasticsearch workloads. I would try to avoid having business-critical ES workloads. Use dynamo if it's actually business-critical, and if you're at the rarer juncture of business-critical and ES, use https://t.co/TRnn2Y5bFk or run your own
Beautiful day for a bike ride around #culvercity today with my daughter. Two lights (Cota & Jefferson, Franklin & Overland) wouldn't respond to bike riders in lane. And exiting north from @LACountyLibrary is bad news. @BikeCulverCity@CulverCityGov
@QuinnyPig Well, ElastiCache charges for cross-AZ transfer (but not for replication transfer). Amazon Elasticsearch does too according to pricing but I haven't ever noticed that one add up to much.
@esh@clare_liguori I believe that CodeStar is best understood as a globbing Code*; it is its own service but it is also the umbrella name for the family of CodeSomething services. Confusing.
@AlexFischCC I walk these sidewalks all the time… real mess and lots of people working in that area, who are discouraged from walking to Platform, downtown and the Metro station. Has the city discussed?
For the past year, AWS Container Services has been contributing to Amazon ECS support in @spinnakerio, the popular cloud-based continuous delivery platform. Learn all about it from Software Development Engineer Allison Stanko: https://t.co/FpYKsUbwB4
@miriamkp I make diagrams for myself. Often they are just unlabelled circles and lines. But… they help me think. I hope I don't frequently ask others to understand my diagrams.
@AlexFischCC @Spottnik@JSadikKhan Is this still the objective? https://t.co/v9loZy9T1I
If that was complete, it would just leave some bad intersections, like the Culver/Washington split in front of Akasha.
@AlexFischCC @Spottnik@JSadikKhan So where is the proposal from the consultants? Timeline has it presented to city council last month.
Right now it's downright dangerous to bike to the station from most of CC.
@anthonydedousis@wh1tewave@UrbanizeLA@AbundantHousing I don't think excluding the La Cienega and Culver City construction makes sense-- yes the stations were pre-existing, but the 2016 Westside extension radically shifted the value of the Expo stations
