मौलाना हुसैन अहमद मदनी’ ने अंग्रेज़ी हुकूमत के खिलाफ फतवा दिया कि अंग्रेज़ों की फौज में भर्ती होना हराम है। अंग्रेज़ी हुकूमत ने मौलाना के खिलाफ मुकदमा दायर कर दिया। सुनवाई में अंग्रेज़ जज ने पूछा, “क्या आपने फतवा दिया है कि अंग्रेज़ी फौज में भर्ती होना हराम है?”

मुझे सिखाया जाता था, “मुसलमानों से मत उलझना, काटकर फेंक देंगे”मौलाना ने जवाब दिया, ‘हां फतवा दिया है और सुनो, यही फतवा इस अदालत में अभी दे रहा हूं और याद रखो आगे भी ज़िन्दगी भर यही फतवा देता रहूंगा।’ इस पर जज ने कहा, “मौलाना इसका अंजाम जानते हो? सख्त सज़ा होगी।”

जज की बातों का जवाब देते हुए मौलाना कहते हैं कि फतवा देना मेरा काम है और सज़ा देना तेरा काम, तू सज़ा दे। मौलाना की बातें सुनकर जज क्रोधिए हुए और कहा कि इसकी सज़ा फांसी है। इस पर मौलाना मुस्कुराते हुए अपनी झोली से एक कपड़ा निकाल कर मेज पर रखते हैं।

अब जज पूछते हैं, “यह क्या है मौलाना?” मौलाना उनका जवाब देते हुए कहते हैं कि यह कफन का कपड़ा है। मैं देवबंद से कफन साथ में लेकर आया था। अब जज कहते हैं, “कफन का कपड़ा तो यहां भी मिल जाता।”

इस पर मौलाना जवाब देते हैं कि जिस अंग्रेज़ की सारी उम्र मुखालफत की उसका कफन पहनकर कब्र में जाना मेरे ज़मीर को गंवारा नहीं। गौरतलब है कि फतवे और इस घटना के असर में हज़ारों लोग फौज़ की नौकरी छोड़कर जंग-ए-आज़ादी में शामिल हो गए। एक सावरकर था जो माफी मांग आया।

At least seven people, who are part of a cow vigilante group, have been arrested for allegedly beating a migrant worker from #WestBengal to death in #Haryana's #CharkhiDadri district over suspicion that he had eaten beef.

According to a senior police officer, 26-year-old Sabir Malik was killed on August 27 (Tuesday). Suspecting that the victim had eaten beef, the accused- Abhishek, Mohit, Ravinder, Kamaljeet and Sahil- called Malik at a shop under the pretence of selling empty plastic bottles and then beat him, the officer said.

He added that after some people intervened, the accused took Malik to another location and beat him again, leading to his death. Malik lived in a shanty near #Bandhra village in Charkhi Dadri district and collected waste and rag for a living, the police added.

All the five accused have been arrested, they said, adding that two juveniles have also been apprehended in the matter. A case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against the accused, the police said.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
