@Noahpinion I've had WAY better experience the other way, but I do 60-80 flights a year out of CLT and get well taken care of. No idea for the average service
@Noahpinion It actually makes complete sense. First time founders think about product. Second time founders think about distribution
Having a captured channel was the logical space for a winner to emerge from, as long as the product was competitive. Doesn't even have to be the best
@mattyglesias That's true, but as somebody with preposterously large shoulders and chest compared to my neck, it's almost impossible to find a good shirt unless it's tailored. And I make good money, but not "all of my shirts are tailored" money
@MediaPolitics6@mattyglesias Hi, alcohol professional and analyst here. This is a ridiculous comparison, negating the failures of the three tier system that have been widely recognized for decades within the beverage industry. Of all the models to emulate, US alcohol law is amongst the worse
@guhlo Töst. Pretty much every other one I've tried has been a compromise at best. Sometimes a perfectly satisfactory compromise, but a compromise nonetheless
According to a report for The Wall Street Journal, Anheuser-Busch is nearing a deal to acquire BeatBox for around $700M.
Founded in 2011 by Justin Fenchel, Aimy Steadman, and Brad Schultz, BeatBox is on pace to exceed $250M in sales this year.
Acquiring BeatBox would meaningfully expand AB InBev’s RTD cocktail portfolio which is already home to Cutwater Spirits and Nütrl.
Beverages don’t just sell units… they build ecosystems.
They drive traffic & expand baskets across every retail format.
That’s why you’ll always find beverages in front and around the perimeter of stores. They set the tone for the trip.
If you want to understand retail momentum, follow the beverage aisle.

GABF ticket sales kick off today!
One thing I'm most excited about for this year's fest are new investments in the music experience at the Mile High Stage.

Reality of working/making a career in beverage
You don’t clock in and out of beverage.
You live it. You sip it. You study it.
And if you’re lucky—you help shape it.
@BrewersStats So I would think this would be a direct counter to the idea of cost disease being the issue, since that's a direct productivity improvement that should offset
Either way, looking forward to more analysis on this! Thanks for all you do!
@BrewersStats Fair point. So maybe just simple supply shortages related to post COVID labor dynamics? Lord knows that hiring for hourly service positions has been harder at the taproom level since then
