After my postdoc I joined Codon Learning to translate EBT practices, like high-structure course design and self testing, into a learning platform. Tomorrow our Chief Academic Officer, Jenny Knight, will be sharing what we learned during our beta test.
Thank you WSJ for prompting me to read Dr. Jill Biden’s doctoral dissertation and making me realize just how awesome she is, and how grateful I am that we'll have someone like her in the White House! This is how her dissertation starts:
It was such an asset to have @JerryTimbrook's survey methodology expertise for the BioSkills Guide project. A great example of the power of cross-disciplinary collaborations.
My collaboration with @alexaclemmons, Jon Herron, and Alison Crowe from @UWBiology led to a great article in @CBELifescied that was highlighted in October's @ScienceMagazine as an Editor's Choice. Check it out!

This is exciting. Cellular respiration is IMHO one of the hardest mol bio topics to teach because of the importance of understanding dynamics (ok and also that energy is still a tricky concept for me :). These videos help SO MUCH.
So excited this is out in the world. Thank you to the many, many biology educators who weighed in. Looking forward to continued progress integrating competencies throughout college biology courses.
@YouTooBio Thanks! And I hear you. We put it there for length. Feel free to go to QUBES to download a version of the BioSkills Guide without the rest of the supplement: https://t.co/AXzQpae0t6
@Katey_Cooper@CBELifescied Thanks, Katey! So excited this is out. The guide is also up on QUBES for anyone who wants to download it without all the extra SM stuff. https://t.co/AJdaggQUUO
Pals, help! Any ideas for a short icebreaker for a faculty seminar, not involving breakout rooms? Want to spend a few minutes at start welcoming new hires- ideally more fun than just taking turns intro'ing selves on microphone. (Something in chat, eg w/ emojis? Something else?)
@gruntleme @calvincfso SimBio has fantastic simulations. I know ppl who love their ElectroPhys and DNA Replication, so if they have any that are up your alley they'd probably be great. Labster also offers a lot, but I can't vouch for them. Good luck!!!
