Very few people know the amount of useful work that the current models can do in Code/Codex/etc. with the right setup
This is not a "rah rah you are so early" post, this is a "AI companies are doing a really bad job explaining what their systems actually do in a clear way" post.
consumer app got fully replaced with codex while codex stayed fully intact and you guys are complaining. it’s a total dev victory.
yes, it’s a bit odd seeing the exact same thing pitched again, but consider for a moment that you are an early adopter and not the target audience for this dumbed down messaging.
it’s good these tools are more prominent now among the wider audience.
Even if we accept this dumb premise that AI is pointless, does it mean we should also ban all non necessary things that use water?
Are we banning almond milk? peanuts?

Build the simplest thing that could possibly work.
Do that repeatedly and put in the work to keep the system simple, and leave the codebase better than you found it.
The deepest unintuitive disconnect w.r.t. psychology of ChatGPT is that it doesn't get "time to think". It has a small, fixed amount of thought for each output token. A bit like human forced to speak very fast. Asking them to produce more text is giving them more time to think.
