Thrilled to share that I will pursue my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Emory University under the mentorship of the incredible @aliocohen! Shoutout to my lab mates in the @learning_brain lab for their unwavering support - I could not be more excited for this new chapter! 🧠🎉
A huge missing piece in the public discourse about federal funding at universities is that these are not handouts but are instead used to address challenges that the government considers important for the country and scientific progress. There is a massive disconnect here. 1/5
So what's happening with medical research in the US? This is the cumulative award count from the NIH for the year.
Doesn't look so good.
But it gets worse.

An in depth expose of the attack on and illegal halting of @NIH funding! For so long there’s been bipartisan support for science and medicine. This is not the way to enact reform..and it is devastating science in the US, especially medical schools https://t.co/PmUOuL39bX
I'm quoted in this article on how NIH is still blocked from funding new grants.
This sabotage makes no sense. Nearly every medicine or treatment you've ever received has roots in NIH-funded research, and every $1 of NIH spending generates $2.46 in returns.

🔊 ATTN @NIH@NSF and VA funded scientists: love hearing about your papers here but please acknowledge UPFRONT that your beautiful science was enabled by federal funds
Please do the same when you give talks or lectures, AND during your interviews with lay media and podcasters
@Georgia_AG@AGPamBondi@POTUS@DOGE@elonmusk@PamBondi This is what you are proud of @Georgia_AG ? You are *proud* of gutting the CDC here in Atlanta, costing your constituents their livelihoods and risking the health of Americans? Strange thing to be proud of

Many in biotech/private sector are boasting about their ways of funding and doing science
But they are staffed with PhDs and postdocs we train in our @NIH and @NSF funded labs in universities
With uni labs lacking funds to train, the private sector will be profoundly harmed
Hi @Georgia_AG I called your office today to voice my concern about Georgia not working to protect the $2.18 billion and 11,000+ jobs supported by @NIH awards in GA but couldn’t reach anyone wasn’t given an option to leave a voicemail
CC @SenOssoff@SenatorWarnock@BrianKempGA
Thats a great start!!
Let’s make it 50? Because every state has NIH supported research in it. Research is what gives you your medicine and technology and quality of life.
22 states sue to block Trump administration cuts to NIH research payments - STAT https://t.co/02JAzzKPs6
Straight 🔥🔥🔥from @mroth78 on the need for college presidents to reject anticipatory obedience and speak out in defense of their sector. https://t.co/pvJg2Gk49W
If you want to “Make America Healthy Again,” one of the worst things you can do is slash the budget of the world's largest public funder of biomedical research, the National Institutes of Health.
Impact of NIH funding in Georgia:
NIH AWARDS FUNDING: $780 M
JOBS SUPPORTED: 11,816
ECONOMIC ACTIVITY SUPPORTED: $2.18 B
Bio Industry Impact in the State:
Jobs: 37,031
Businesses: 3,284
Cutting NIH indirects will kill jobs and cause a recession. https://t.co/SGxtjfXuIe
New article by @KruRyno where he shows that facial dominance predicts intelligence. Children expect dominant-looking individuals to be "really smart." Less consistent in these data was a gender stereotype about intelligence.
