@CraigisSwell My Staraptor was at +2 from two Close Combats, got an extra Special Defense boost from getting hit by Psychic, and then the opponent’s Blastoise got a crit on it to kill it in the same turn. It does indeed hurt.

@JoeMerrick It runs well on iPad with a stylus! Resolution is a bit low, but putting together teams is much quicker with a big screen and a stylus.

@LyshaVGC Weavile does great against Sneasler (125 base speed vs 120) and can one-shot it with Psycho Cut, while also one-shotting some Basculegion with Knock Off. You could give it Low Kick for Kingambit, but I like running Icicle Spear (for Garchomp, Dragonite, and Aerodactly) + Fake Out

@LucyOneCaster This is actually one of only two side quests I have done, and it was not particularly difficult. It’s just Act I stuff.

@edmundmcmillen Malaria and Bean Parasite are my least favorites (very annoying, make that cat only less useful). I have had great successes with Blood Frenzy and no longer mind it much.

For reference, I have about 120 hours in the game and am at 69% completion.

This game is amazing, and different parts of the soundtrack have been stuck in my head since I started playing it…

@notch I finally caved and bought Megabonk three or four nights ago; I have been working full time, but also have managed to put over 20 hours into it on my Steam Deck OLED.

It is a very satisfying “numbers go up” game, and I completely understand how you (and now I) am trapped by it.

@notch A big part of the beauty of Balatro (to me at least) is the lack of stress. Just, “Oh, I guess this run is ending; hopefully the next one will have better luck,” combined with nothing being time-sensitive makes it wonderfully passive.
