I got inspired by one of my #fys2150#uio students to use my very average smartphone to take this picture. My phone is sooo much more sensitive than my tired, old eyes!
@martinmbauer This is absolutely on flat-earth level [sic]. The probability that the physicists, committees, and bureaucrats of CERN (and friends of CERN) have been duped about the existence of a Higgs boson is at the level of 1 over the estimated number of solar systems in the known universe.
@lpachter I don't see a problem claiming there is a tiny slope and that there is little doubt about that. I don't know anything about what went into the scatterplot, but I would be worried about whether the obvious slope is an artefact of the measurements rather than a physical effect.
@skdh Researchers are people. If you tempt them with an easy way to cheat the system and there is little chance of being caught or punished, what do you think will happen?
