@__areyoumadatme Burnes only had a shortened season of success at the time. He was bad in 2019. Now it seems ridiculous but at the time it made sense. Sox had a hard line on trading Vaughn/Kopech/Crochet.

I’ve seen some talk about the Corbin Burnes trade to the #WhiteSox that never was recently. The proposed offer was a package centered around Madrigal and Heuer. 1/3

Burnes is looking like a Cy Young candidate and Madrigal is finally getting hot. Acquiring Burnes would have led to not bringing back Rodon. In hindsight, I still wish that the original package would have been accepted but I’m not losing sleep about it. It was CLOSE. 3/3

The #Brewers were looking for a contact hitting, sure gloved 2nd baseman and have been on Heuer for a while. At the last minute (probably because of talks with Wong) the #Brewers wanted Madrigal swapped out for Vaughn or Crochet and the deal collapsed. 2/3
