Dear Supreme Court of India,

140 crore Indians are busy earning money and taking care of their families. They do not have the time, money or power to fight the Government. That is why people look towards the Supreme Court for justice.

Please do not wait until it is too late.

Every day E20 petrol is being promoted across the country. People are told it is completely safe. Ministers openly say, "Show me one vehicle anywhere in the world that had problems because of E20." But in the Supreme Court, the Government says E20 is still under study and the final results will come next year.

How can both be true?

If the study is not over, why is E20 being pushed on the whole country?

If everything is already proved, why tell the Supreme Court that the study is still going on?

Why are people not given the choice to buy normal petrol?

Why should 140 crore Indians become part of something that is still being studied?

The Government has all the power. People cannot leave their jobs, spend years in court and fight the Government. That is why the Supreme Court was made, to protect the common people when nobody else can.

Please ask one simple question.

If E20 is still under study, why is it being forced on the people?

Indian citizens are not for testing. Our vehicles, our hard earned money and our daily lives should not be put at risk without giving us a choice.

Ishan Kishan is a terrific cricketer who has just essayed an amazing international comeback.
He has also made almost a 100 crores just from IPL fees, not counting international duty and endorsements. This cheque is not a 100th of what he has already made and he's not the greedy sort.
So one can only assume this was literally a payout for a photo-op with him to ensure that the others in the picture got into the papers and all over social media.
Obviously, why spend one crore of government money on creating facilities or training centres or bankrolling poor athletes when you can instead use it to create a photo op by paying the one of the few athletes from your state who really does not need the money!
And that's why sport in India is where it is.

I started running a decade ago. Every morning, I’d find myself on Carter Road, chasing the ocean breeze. That wind is what made me fall in love with this city and running.

I want to feel it again. And dystopian as it is, I put on a mask before lacing my shoes. It took me back to the pandemic. Except there’s no virus in the air endangering our life. The air itself could kill us.

I never imagined a day when the very thing we breathe to survive would become a luxury. My doors and windows stay shut. I bought an air purifier. I moved my runs to a treadmill, staring at a wall instead of the sea. And it still isn’t enough.

Running is the thing that keeps me whole. It clears my head. It heals something in me that nothing else reaches. But now the act I built my life around feels like it’s quietly destroying me. Pollution is undoing what years of discipline and sweat and devotion built, one breath at a time.

This isn’t seasonal anymore. It shouldn’t be political. But somewhere between the data and the denial, people like me are out there in masks, grieving a morning run, mourning a city we loved.

Yesterday’s metro incident has once again exposed the lacunae the system is suffering from.

Mulund’s elected MLA @mihirkotecha had submitted an entire list of loopholes with all details to the concerned authorities sometime ago, but no action.

A citizen on X had pointed out the cracks; authorities dismissed it instead of conducting a thorough investigation along the route.

If the voice of elected representatives isn’t heard, if concerns of citizens aren’t heard, then who is being heard?

₹5 lakh for the victim is nothing but adding salt to the injury; a ₹6 crore penalty on contractors won’t serve any major purpose.

Action needs to start at the top. Those responsible need to be shunted out. The babus and engineers who always go scot-free must be held accountable. Heads must roll. Only exemplary action can restore common people’s faith in the system.

Mere words cannot compensate for the loss of trust.
