Excellent article. I have resigned from the GMS and I wish all my remaining colleagues courage for the future. This has not been an easy decision but to continue to work with no future support in this rural single handed practice was not an option.
@DrDavidDoran@DrMarkMurphy@Antcon7062@maireadbw@jimharty @AodhanORiordain @IrishTimes@labour As a working parent - great, I’ll take free GP care for my 3 sons but handing me a GP card for my 2 robust & healthy children while my son who lives with scoliosis wastes away on a surgery wait list just doesn’t make sense to me. Surely we need to target monies spent.
@DrMarkMurphy@Gillman0John Even with a medical card they won't be seen by Public Health Nurse if under 65 in some areas. Another service being provided by GPs that is not part of contract
Reversing FEMPI just puts us back to how we were in2008, with a 34year old contract that was inept even then. Since then: mass emigration and retirement of GPs, with an aging, more complex population is driving us into the ground. Time to cop on @SimonHarrisTD @campaignforleo
Frontline staff in both GP &secondary care are doing their utmost. Point is - it is now beyond what they can sustain. Sick people now languishing on trolleys. Elderly now condemned to live out their lives either blind or lame as cannot get joint replacement or cataract surgery
Something that should never be forgotten from Irish history: In 2011, the Irish state took €17.5 billion (17 thousand millions) from it's sovereign wealth fund and gave it to the banks. Remember that every time a politician says we can't build houses #Homeless#Hypocrisy
It is now morally and ethically unacceptable for GPs in 🇮🇪 to continue to prop up this rotten, patient killing health service. We need to collectively plan days of industrial action to wake the people up. No point trying to wake up @campaignforleo Vegetative states fair poorly
I palpated a definite tumor in the descending colon of a patient yesterday. I have cancelled my Monday afternoon surgery to deal with it, because that’s how long it will take. Memo to self also to make sure I have my iPhone charger with me. Health service my Arse. @SimonHarrisTD
@dr_stapleton @WFHCBANDON @welfare_ie@ReginaDo@rtenews@NewstalkFM I think it shows how low their estimation of general practice is,if they thing that they can change a contract unilaterally and they expect us to just roll over
Might have to withdraw from @welfare_ie contract for certification.
Unilateral change in conditions, now refusal to pay for work done =breach of contract by @welfare_ie and @ReginaDo
Would have awful impact on patients, but @welfare_ie don't seem to care. @rtenews@NewstalkFM
Yet @campaignforleo and @SimonHarrisTD will not entertain reversing the swingeing 38% cuts made to GP's gross practice payments made under FEMPI.
Their legacy will be a health service bereft of GPs.
