Data on antimicrobial use (#AMU) in animals is an essential asset to reduce the misuse & overuse of antimicrobials.
Our online platform ANIMUSE (ANImal antiMicrobial USE) aims to use this data to curb the spread of antimicrobial resistance (#AMR).
[POOR HYGIENE AND ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE]
#antimicrobialresistance occurs when the effectiveness of the drugs administered to combat microbes 🦠 are diminished, or completely abolished. Where there is poor #sanitation and unhygienic living, life-threatening diseases.
It is not just a medical issue! The sustainable development goals are affected too, more reason we need a combined effort to eradicate antimicrobial resistance. #preventingAMRtogether
ICARS & @IDRC_CRDI are supporting a project which aims to strengthen gender equality in #AMR intervention & implementation research.

Today is World #HandHygieneDay! These are the microbes on your hands grown on an agar filled petri-dish. Hand washing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infection and #AntimicrobialResistance. Save lives - clean your hands @WHO
Together, we can accelerate action to prevent infections and antimicrobial resistance in health care and build a culture of safety and quality in which hand hygiene improvement is given high priority.
Antimicrobial resistance #AMR poses a major threat to human health. @FAOSierraLeone, supported by @FlemingFund trains field staff on antimicrobial use data collection, sample collection, biosafety and biosecurity to improve their capabilities to conduct AMR surveillance
In this One World One Health podcast by One Health Trust, @maggiemfox talks with Kevin Outterson who argues that antibiotics should be treated as infrastructure & companies making drugs to fight superbugs should be treated as vital government contractors: https://t.co/DGrv1gSGOk
#OHRECA is thrilled to co-host the ‘My Turn’ Uganda AMR Symposium with @ReActAfrica_RAN and @beat_the_bugs on 3-4 March 2023. Students will showcase their antibiotic resistance (#AMR) work and engage with stakeholders.
In this @OneHealthTrust One World One Health podcast, @maggiemfox talks with @DeepshikhaBath1 about the effect of gender inequality on the spread of superbugs.
Women are far more likely to be infected with and then spread drug-resistant superbugs: https://t.co/nGoWOwCGjF
This policy brief published by @WHO & @OneHealthTrust assesses the present state of Kenya’s national action plan on AMR implementation, identifies important gaps, and highlights findings to speed up future progress in the human health sector: https://t.co/boy2HFHBrF
