@hannah_everage I think an important way to create a homelike environment is to first, genuinely care about your students and their backgrounds and promote inclusion of each student. Getting on their level to show how much they are valued and growing in empathy is also a good place to start.

@hannaheshaw Yes, I have. I am fortunate to have grown up in an impactful, well funded school system where I live, but for many that is not the case. I think it would be very eye opening + rewarding to teach in urban schools and to engage with and learn about people from all backgrounds.

@CassidytotheRay This is a great question and something I haven’t thought about before. I think it would be very beneficial to have more counselors in schools that care deeply about every student, and are actively growing in knowledge of ways to free those that feel trapped b/c of their race.
