Hypericum gaitii, a threatened medicinal plant restricted to Eastern India, thrives on hill slopes and along perennial water systems within forested landscapes.

Deomali offers an excellent habitat for this species, making its conservation a shared responsibility.

As a botanical jewel of the Deomali Hills in the Koraput Forest Division, it enriches nature trails and serves as an educational resource in nature camps managed by the Department in collaboration with local communities.

India hosts three species of Sundews (Carnivores Group of Plants) across diverse landscapes, and Deomali Hills of Koraput is one of the rare places where all three occur together.
