Just uploaded a revision of the *last* paper for Fall 2025, marking a close to my first semester as a full MA student.
Now for a greatly needed break, spending time with family, friends, and enjoying the season.
I hope I'm wrong.
But tonight feels like some sort of invisible line has been crossed that we didn't even know was there. The last time I felt like this was 9/11 when it was clear, without knowing the how and the what, that the world was about to change forever.
Like the rules of the game had been permanently altered and there was simply no going to back to the innocent, peaceful past.
I didn't feel like this when an attempt was made on President Trump's life. If I had to rationalise why I didn't, I guess it's because several US Presidents have been shot at and even assassinated. Somehow it was within the realms of the possible, no matter how awful.
But to murder a young father simply for doing debates and mobilising young people to vote for a party that represents half of America? This is something else.
Charlie's death is a tragedy for his wife, his children and his family. I don't pray often. I am praying for them tonight.
But I fear his murder will be a tragedy for all of us in ways we will only understand as time unfolds.
I hope I'm wrong.
I have a deep, abiding *loathing* for AC, so please do pay attention to this, and, if they're telling you they can't rebook you, DO NOT take the refund. Book your own, and file for the reimbursement.
There's a special place in Hell for them. And it just got worse.
Did you receive such a message from Air Canada?
If so, DO NOT take a refund.
Instead, search for alternative flights on your own, and buy a new flight WITHOUT accepting a refund -- then make Air Canada pay for the costs of your new flight.
Aside from the small text embroidery, this was also in my workload for this week. Went back and forth a bit on design, and eventually came up with the idea to mimic one of his Harley patches. The new machine stitched it out beautifully! Now to stitch it down to the vest...
Trying my hand at custom patches for our owners group. In this case, he wanted one that mimicked the "Street Glide" patch. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Now to get it stitched on and ready to go for the weekend ride!
@BaronDestructo Never had it, but I would certainly try it, if offered. When I travel, I try to keep an open mind and open palate. I don't always succeed, mind you, but I try. Some locales are more challenging than others. ;)
We are saddened by the passing of Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 and a four-time spaceflight veteran.
Lovell's life and work inspired millions. His courage under pressure helped forge our path to the Moon and beyondโa journey that continues today. https://t.co/AjT8qmxsZI
Overheard, in DAI, after locking in the Inquisitor's romance with Cullen:
Orlesian Man (OM): Well, we've reached the climax...
Orlesian Woman (OW): We're not the only ones!
OM: Do you think there will be dresses?
OW: They're sewing in Val Royeaux, even now!
The ambient conversations aren't as good as DAO, but they're not bad. I think *that* one broke the fourth wall...๐
Grad school resumes on 18 August... and I'm 144 hours into my second-first playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition. (Turns out I didn't want a hardened Leiliana, so... I started over.) Almost caught up with myself again now, but still wondering if I'll finish before classes start again. =D
Not as good as DAO, but still enjoying it.
And, after seeing cut scenes and reviews, Veilguard will have to be a LOT cheaper before I invest.
Here are the facts for anyone spreading misinformation about any lack of warning for the #TexasFlood: A flash flood warning was issued by the @NWS for Kerr County, TX at 1a on Friday, 7/4, followed by a severe flood emergency warning at 4a, and another for Kerrville at 5:30a.
