“So it’s not about you, it’s not about your farm and the fact you bought a farm to avoid inheritance tax?”
@vicderbyshire speaks to Jeremy Clarkson at the farmers’ protest in Westminster where thousands of farmers are protesting the government’s inheritance tax plans.
Very important line here from @LouHaigh on road safety:
"We treat road safety in a way as if it is somehow a natural accident. If the number of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads, were being killed in any other way, we'd be treating it as a pandemic."
@JamesNe78081707@bristolgreen Waiting for the SBLN just kicks the can down the road - how will it be any easier then? And as this area of Totterdown is bounded by main roads I don't see why it can't be tackled in advance. Similar with Windmill Hill, where a proposed traffic filter is now sadly postponed (2/2)
So much for the 'vision zero' being promoted before the election...
Sounds like the convenience of motorists trumps all for @bristolgreen ...a modal filter would only result in a 2 min detour for drivers, but many benefits
@JamesNe78081707@bristolgreen Yes some residents loudly objected but that will always be the case when proposing this sort of thing. To deliver vision zero and meaningful change political leadership is needed - not populism (1/2).
@silaseton1 'I would like to see the evidence which suggest that there is a problem with this junction' do you not consider improving the safety of vulnerable road users a valid reason for a minor inconvenience to drivers?
' @BristolCycling
It had been thought through - this junction has a proven history of presenting a danger to cyclists and motorcyclists. Nobody should put personal political advantage over the facts.

The Conservatives have criticised Labour’s plans to give more money to public sector workers, because 14 years of giving public money to your mates worked out so well for Britain
Green Party co-leader Adrian Ramsay confirms he’s opposing new electricity pylons needed to link green energy to the grid in his East Anglian constituency. Says the route is not popular locally and he’s a ‘constituency MP’ first
UKIP 2015: 3.8m votes - 12.6%

The media narrative could easily be: why hasn’t the hard-right made more progress in the last ten years? But it isn’t.
