Build AI agents with non public premium data - NYC this Friday afternoon. Organized by @redpineai and People Inc, support from @lovable and @modal . (Edit) Fully booked but grab a wait list spot here: https://t.co/V5KOCiYV4f
Larry Ellison $ORCL highlighted something critical: models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Llama are all trained on largely the same public internet data.
When everyone trains on the same information, models inevitably converge. That’s why AI is moving toward commoditization.
The real moat isn’t the model itself. It’s the proprietary data behind it.
Companies that can train on exclusive datasets gain an advantage competitors can’t replicate.
Having data that no one else has will allow you to dominate your market.
Last week at India AI Summit as part of the Swedish delegation led by Marcus Wallenberg was amazing. Such a momentum but in India and the Swedish ecosystem.
@karpathy On the quality of AI training data (1h00min) into the pod, this is part of what we're addressing with https://t.co/rAVPtQGpgK and our fair licensing of 100s of bns of quality scientific AI data
Karpathy delivers so many tokens of thoughful AI insights in his podcast.
My favorites:
"pre-training is the model's hazy recollection"
"poor memory is a feature - not a bug - for humans*
"LLM training data is crap" - lack of entropy

Thanks @karpathy for being the true evangelist of contrarian yet logical AI wisdom. In a tide where things gravitate towards the mean, it's refreshing things like "RL is really bad but it's the best thing we got"
@BG2Pod@altcap@bgurley Hats of @bgurley for your insights over the past 2y - esp nuanced views on China's tech and AI advances. Was just over in BJ/SH/HZ/SZ visiting 9 leading LLMs and share many of your takeaways.
@BG2Pod has been a beacon of insights over the past 2 years during which we started building @redpineai.
Will miss @bgurley on future episodes but salute your new chapters, including the book.
Also welcome his strong voice of reason in AI regulation and US/China relations.

This year’s Frankfurt Book Fair was a true goldmine for AI data. Our @redpineai team spent some super productive days meeting many existing and welcoming new data partners.
@AcquiredFM@djrosent … Electrolux, Oriflame, and many industrials leading their niches. Now up to us to continue building great tech companies (Spotify, Klarna etc.) that live up to IKEA and the likes’ successes. Ps love the wholehearted attempt to pronounce the village names of IKEA @djrosent 👍
@AcquiredFM@djrosent Fantastic time travel and research as always. These days we spend a lot of time worrying about the future of Nordics and European ecosystems, but episodes like this connect past with future. Ikea ranks up against many fine Swedish brands including H&M, Volvo, EF Education…
