This is significant for those 65+ with concussive injuries. Very important to be properly evaluated & diagnosed rather than ignored or mistreated--especially in light of falls being a major cause of concussion.
🧠📄In this paper out of Denmark, Convergence insufficiency in patients with post-concussion syndrome is accompanied by a higher symptom load: a cross-sectional study
👥N of 103 patients with neurological symptoms 2-6 months after a concussion.
👀In patients with persistent post-#concussion symptoms, the load of nonvisual symptoms is higher in the presence of CI.
A prospective interventional study on CI is required to study the relationship between CI and other post-concussion symptoms.

A military lab found distinctive damage from repeated blast exposure in every brain it tested, but Navy SEAL leaders were kept in the dark about the pattern.
🔎Did you know? About 1 in 4 patients with concussion symptoms from a fall are misdiagnosed in the Emergency Department 🏥

"Children who show significant symptoms after a head injury, 23% are not evaluated for concussion or brain trauma. "
This, I would attribute to parents' not knowledgeable on what a concussion really is.
Football players, special operators or extreme sports enthusiasts: Who's most likely to experience a #TBI?
The answer is all of them — and none of them.
As our director, Dr. Dengler explains there are some major misconceptions about who is most at risk for brain injuries.
It is (yet is not) all in our heads. Metabolic changes after brain injury have far reaching implications:
"...recovery from an mTBI (mild traumatic brain injury) can be much more prolonged than recovery from a moderate or severe TBI."
As it's #braininjuryawarenessmonth, I'm pleased to share one of my @PsychToday blogs on #tbi and understanding some of the lesser known symptoms that many experience from a #concussion.

For #braininjury survivors, mental fatigue can be debilitating, impacting both work and day-to-day living. I struggled for two years before finally being referred to a TBI clinic for helpful therapies. #TBI https://t.co/qIBfr7qVi6
