In the recent past we lost 2 children listed for receiving a heart transplant.
They had end stage heart failure.
Medicines had failed them.
They needed a new heart to survive.
They had the funds ready.
But funds cant get u a heart.

So what can get u a heart?
✅Mass awareness about organ donation.
For a heart transplant, the heart has to come from a person who has been declared brain-dead by (2) ICU doctors .
1-2% of all deaths in any standard icu are braindead deaths.
Declaration of brain death is a very formal process.

If a family has been told about possible brain death about their loved one in the ICU, then that is the right time for the family to ask the doctor about organ donation in case brain death is confirmed.

Funds are a problem in India. But the bigger problem is lack of organ donations.

✅ almost all of our patients who have received a heart transplant have got funding from charity and the government.
(The funding is even better in other states.)
