It’s my 22nd birthday. I was harmed by Lexapro 6 years ago. Emotional blunting and genital numbness have yet to go away, though I discontinued all SSRI medication many years ago.
I was never informed of the possibility of this devastating and debilitating condition.
It’s time to make the distinction that PSSD is a neurological condition, caused by SSRI and SNRI medication. Most PSSD patients would agree that the sudden onset of our symptoms can only be explained as a shift in our own neurology.
"I have no hobbies and no interest in anything since being medicated."
Gina discusses her persistent #PSSD symptoms, induced by the SSRI Lexapro (escitalopram).
Her symptoms have continued even after stopping the medication in 2021.
Daniel's #PSSD began after he took the #SSRI#Celexa (#citalopram) for anxiety and depression.
The medication made him lose all empathy and damaged his sexual function.
6 years after stopping the medication, he has not returned to normal.

SSRI induced vasculitis cases are well documented. SSRIs have also triggered MS. Small fiber neuropathy seems to be a common complication (PSSD). By clinical picture it's impossible to separate Post Vaccine Syndrome from severe SSRI "withdrawal". These are immunomodulators!!!!

Under the presumption that there are no long-term side effects, #SSRI and #SNRI medications are frequently prescribed to children.
In this video, 19-year-old Aaron tells a different story. #PSSD
@MohisDev I am a 6 year case. It seems like a significant subgroup of PSSD patients, alongside loss of emotion-triggered and sexual sensations, suffer with other debilitating symptoms which overlap with some other chronic illnesses
The prevalence of PSSD is currently unknown, indicative evidence suggests that milder forms of the condition may be relatively common. This is also what the experts believe who are looking into it. We encourage you to review the available literature and data on PSSD.
PSSD is a direct result of medication use, and symptoms such as genital numbness cannot be dismissed as psychosomatic. Patients commonly report a loss of physical sensation in their genitals following medication intake.
SSRIs are known to numb genitals and reduce sensations. They're also prescribed for premature ejaculation, unfortunately, in the case of PSSD, these genital numbing effects can be permanent.
The European Medicines Agency (@EMA_News) has acknowledged that sexual side effects can persist even after discontinuation of SNRI and SSRI medication, and has urged all drug manufacturers to include this information on their labels.
As of now, the FDA has yet to respond to a citizen's petition submitted in 2018.
Sandra initially developed #PSSD from #Zoloft. She later took #Wellbutrin and #Effexor which worsened her symptoms.
Her psychiatrist repeatedly ensured her that her symptoms would go away after quitting.

@GoldmeierDavid@DrMcFillin It seems to me like these post-SSRI and post-AD issues start once trying to discontinue AD and then for a subgroup of people these issues can persist for years. They can vary from mild to severe and are a “whole new” type of discomfort and can severely affect quality of life
@GoldmeierDavid@DrMcFillin@GoldmeierDavid Can I ask, did most of your patients stay on AD? Or were they on AD for a period of time (months to years) & successfully discontinued?
I’ve talked to people, I feel like I can say a lot of people over the years, who have issues once trying to come off of meds
@DrMcFillin could u check out @PSSDNetwork about this condition, which includes persisting sexual dysfunction and emotional blunting? This can persist for years or even indefinitely in a subgroup.
I have some sort of libido. I am in a happy relationship, but because of SSRIs which I took and discontinued over 6 years ago, I have numb genitals and anorgasmia. I feel mentally aroused but nothing happens physically.
This is not something anyone should have to deal with.

Post-SSRI emotional blunting + issues w memory/cognition can also take years to subside. It seems like whatever causes persisting SD also causes persisting emot. blunting

An extensive field review describes its symptoms as causing 'substantial and prolonged suffering'.”
