James Talarico hates white people, & he hates himself.
"For me, prophetic voices like Jesus have helped me reckon with my own whiteness, my own masculinity, my own certainty...It's a never-ending process, and it's a painful process."
Good Lord.
Why is it that the Shorter Catechism in Q/A 13-19 nowhere mentions that Adam's disobedience was at the instigation of satan (as opposed to such references in Continental symbols)? If someone who knows C Van Dixhoorn can ask him (or point to me to an answer), I'd appreciate it!
@NateAFischer Nate, with respect, for many reasons. Dr. Strange is a good man and so are the men on the MARS faculty/board (many of whom I know personally). Good men get things wrong. Really wrong. What I hear in this 35 second is wrong. But there are many good reasons to go to MARS.
@presbycast Help me out here. Does everyone at MARS live in inner-city Chicago? Aren't some neighborhoods better than others? Aren't some states better than others? I think you can condemn hatred/ethnic animosity w/o falling into cultural relativism. ["Better" in earthly/civil terms.]
America's commitment to pot doesn't just mean cities reeking and six subsidized dispensaries within a 2-mile stretch in the Northeastโ it also means mainstreaming/whitewashing Snoop Dogg as a commentator during the Olympics. NBC couldn't get anyone better?
God's kingdom is subversive of the kingdoms of this worldโ He builds His reign through His Word and Spirit in such a way that His kingdom eats the kingdoms of this world from the inside out. Aaron's staff swallowing the staffs of Pharaoh's court magicians.
@james_d_baird There is no more American Catholicism since Vatican Two. It's been protestantized. RR Reno, Douthat, RJ Neuhaus, First Things were former Prots and heavily draw on Protestant form and matter. JD, M Rubio, T Cruz all sound like Conservative evangelicals.
We live in a sterile, anti-human, anti-family society. Planned Parenthood is only the tip of the iceberg. Consider our housing stockโ where can big families go to live?
My politics is confessed in Belgic Confession Art. 36, and probably best explained in the writings of 19th Century Princeton (the Alexanders and Hodges, for starters).
Happy Reformation Day! I'm thankful to God for His Son who redeemed me from my sins and God's eternal wrath with His precious blood on the cross, who lived a perfect and righteous life that secured my obedience, and now assures me of eternal and strengthens me to obey Him.
May I kindly suggest to you that all Big Eva discourse is a Baptist tempest in a teapot? It's people arguing online in non-Reformed ways about how best to "do ministry" without the Confessions and the received Reformed tradition, and without the authority of the local church.
@thisisfoster My dear and former professor made his brand "anti-establishmentarianism." It's his life's work to be a Brit living in America (same principle you point out). He's good on a lot of things. What you point out, however, is part of his soft underbelly.
This past Saturday, Jonathan Master spoke at Iglesia Presbiteriana Sola Escrituraโs (OPC) Reformed Theology conference on the topic of Cessationism. It was a great time in both opening Godโs Word and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico.
