Feeling pretty thankful to be working @Shopify right now.

Most of my team is out for Thanksgiving, and I’m done my big goals for the week, so I decided to spend the morning diving into Rails and submitting my first PR to Shopify’s internal tool called "The Vault". **

A couple things stuck with me…

1) Thanks to GPT, I feel like I can learn anything. Ruby/Rails is already insanely productive, but since most of the APIs are pre-2021, GPT is like rocket fuel.

2) Before Shopify, the biggest company I worked at was my own, so I'm not sure if this level of autonomy at a big company is standard (I assume it's not). But it's crazy that I can decide to improve something for a completely different team, in a different discipline, and it's met with support and encouragement from brilliant people who provide thoughtful feedback, helping my learning even more.

I told @tobi when I joined — there were lots of reasons I was excited, but my goal above all else was to learn. My grandpa always said "the key to success is to never stop learning", he'd be blown away by the world today.

** Technically, my first one got shot down, but I wanted redemption, so I took on trying to solve an existing issue. Then as I wrapped that up, another easy one came in from @duncan that I could fix in 2 minutes, so really I got three in.

@blanklob Github Project has become really good in the last few years, thinking of switching over from Trello, makes it easier to link things to PRs and code activity. My only issue is I’m not a fan of having non-coding tasks in my repository issues like marketing stuff and whatnot
