Congratulations @akjags on your computational neuroscience research comparing how the human brain and deep learning models are able to recognize objects!
Longer thread to come once the paper is published, but I'm so excited to finally share this work with the world! Thanks to my advisor, Justin Gardner, and to so many friends, especially @tylerraye, @NathanKong, @_kjag and @keeksanch, for their support through this journey.
How are objects represented in the human brain and in deep convolutional neural networks?
In our new paper, just published in @PNASNews, we show that human visual cortex and dCNN models contain a texture-like representation of objects. 🚨🥳 1/x

How does the human brain represent objects?
In this preprint, we show that representations in human visual cortex and deep neural networks are texture-like (encoding complex features but not their spatial arrangement) and are thus unable to directly support object perception.
This is going to be good. I had the fortune of sitting in the recent discussion of the Moderna case that Karim led. Lots to learn about #artificalintelligence#COVID19#vaccines
Honored to be in a panel on "Importance of Women in AI" on Thursday October 22nd, at 9:00am PST. moderated by Harvard Business Analytics professor Karim Lakhani and one of the great female influencers Rana el Kaliouby. Registration Link: https://t.co/S7klZbr5G9
Hearty Congratulations to @_kjag & @johbrahms. Very proud of their work in automatic patient diagnosis system and identifying the implied gene variant which causes severe genetic disorders. @bvjagadeesh@shaileshrao @nikitamah
Congratulations to @_kjag and @johbrahms on being named as two of the 30 people in healthcare under the age of 30 to look out for! Now I'm excited to see what you can accomplish in the next 30 years 😋 https://t.co/rMcHcEUyfN
Congrats to @dhruvlife for launching https://t.co/iax79WcjP8, a project to rank diversity in tech. They parsed LinkedIn data to answer questions like how many women work at Snap, or how many black engineers are at Stripe. Cheers for using data to promote diversity in tech!
The amount of scientific research that goes unpublished merely because the outcome doesn't work out is horrifying... Negative result is (usually) still a result! https://t.co/JzHf3uIF39
