It’s hard to imagine a greater irony: a celebration of the American Founding—whose entire purpose was rejecting kings, personality cults, and leader worship—being transformed into a vanity project for one man. The Founders fought a war to escape this kind of politics.
In the wealthiest city in the richest country on Earth, it is unacceptable that so many students have been left behind.
So we’re investing in what works: high-quality instruction, strong support for teachers, and a public school system that doesn’t give up on anyone.
The $17.3 million expansion of NYC Reads & NYC Solves programs will help make sure every NYC student succeeds.
Too on point not to share. This is great, but too bad the Orange Felon’s enablers won’t let him see it.
This Australian's reply to #Trump's rant about “NATO not being there for America” is perfect.
"Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.
You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you.
And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.
And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
'NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.
And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f----- mouth."

Not enough people are talking about this.
A Florida airport was renamed after Donald Trump. He walked away with the trademark, the licensing rights, and a deal that lets him profit off every piece of merchandise sold there.
But the story of how he got it is even worse.
County staff told commissioners that rejecting the name change would put state transportation funding at risk. DeSantis has already removed state attorneys and school board members who dared to cross him. That is the reality the Democratic commissioner who cast the deciding vote was living in when she made her choice: hand Donald Trump control of a public airport or watch Florida Republicans strip funding from the very people she was elected to represent.
That is absolutely insane.
Florida Republicans handed Trump a money machine and called it a naming rights deal, and the people of Palm Beach County never got a say in any of it.

This has a clinical name. Revenge bedtime procrastination. And the ADHD version runs on a completely different mechanism than the neurotypical one.
A neurotypical person stays up late because they want more leisure time. The ADHD brain stays up because it spent every drop of dopamine it had on executive function during the day. Sitting in meetings, managing transitions, filtering impulses, remembering the thing you were supposed to remember. That burns through dopamine the way sprinting burns through glycogen. By 10pm the tank is empty.
But here's where it gets counterintuitive. The exhaustion is physical. The dopamine deficit is neurological. Those are two separate systems. Your muscles want sleep. Your prefrontal cortex is starving for the stimulation it was denied all day because it spent 14 hours on task-switching and impulse control instead of anything that actually felt rewarding.
The phone at midnight is the brain trying to collect what it's owed. Low-effort, high-stimulation content. Scrolling, short videos, rabbit holes. The exact profile of activity that delivers dopamine without requiring the executive function you already depleted.
The sleep researchers call this a "self-regulation failure." It's closer to a debt collection. You borrowed against your own reward system to function all day. The bill comes due at midnight. And the brain will not let you sleep until it gets paid.
25 years ago our group proposed and tested the prenatal sex steroid theory of autism. Today there is now a strong body of evidence in support of the idea. Simply put, elevated sex steroid hormones (like androgens [e.g. testosterone] and estrogens) interact with genetic predisposition to change fetal brain development and increase the likelihood of the child having more autistic traits, and/or an autism diagnosis. Delighted our new 'Perspective' paper on this has just been published, with wonderful collaborators worldwide. Alongside deeper understanding of the biology of autism we need way way better support services for autistic people and their families, so they can enjoy equal human rights

I was thrilled to honor the legendary Ruth Messinger at our pre-Shavuot celebration at Gracie Mansion for Jewish American Heritage Month.
Jewish Americans have long been trailblazers for justice, from labor leaders like Clara Lemlich and Rose Schneiderman to Civil Rights leaders like Henry Moskowitz, Rabbi Heschel, and Marjorie G. Wyler — Ruth Messinger’s mother — who marched from Selma alongside Dr. King.
In order to ensure that Jewish communities can continue to thrive here, my administration is increasing hate crime prevention funding by 800% — because New York must be a place where everyone can live safely and freely.
Whether you are about to finish counting the Omer or are looking forward to cheesecake, Chag Sameach and happy Jewish American Heritage Month!
Trump didn’t just pardon his followers who stormed the U.S. Capitol.
He’s now set them up for payments through a slush fund he created to reward his allies—out of your tax dollars.
You could not make this up.
