How do people in the US identify on the left-right spectrum?

In 1995, Democrats mostly identified as centrists. In 2017, far more gravitated to the left.

Republicans have always identified as right-wing, but now more are identifying as far-right.

The liberal-conservative gap is now huge for young women.

For men, it's 32%-27% (+5 liberals).
For women, it's 48%-18% (+30 liberals).

There has been a sudden, sharp increase in young women identifying as liberal since 2018.
