Almost on a daily basis, I track Tamil Nadu’s economy, industries, and investments. I believe very few people have the time or interest to do so.

That is why the Industries Minister’s baseless claim - that the former Tamil Nadu Industries Minister gave away 25 projects to seven states and that his brother was collecting money from every investor - felt both factually and intuitively wrong.

As I have said, if the government has any evidence against the former Industries Minister, it should proceed legally. No one, absolutely no one, is above the law.

At the same time, an Industries Minister is expected to remain largely apolitical, balanced, and factual in her statements, and to prioritise the state over politics.

Not understanding even what a single-window clearance is was extremely surprising.

In my view, she needs to spend a lot of time learning. Her role demands that she remain almost apolitical, leave politics to her party colleagues, and focus solely on the state’s development.
