@rach3lburn3tt i can’t say i necessarily agree with your decision, but i think you describe it excellently. a very well thought out piece. please do write some more!
disgraceful behaviour. you don’t need to listen to Netanyahu to avoid spreading conspiracy theories around terror attacks. this sort of behaviour from sitting members of the HoC shouldn’t be tolerated by the speaker - it’s dangerous and fuels antisemitic misinformation online
Is this peer having a laugh? Please tell me he’s joking. Apologise?
My fellow colleague of the Commons, I wouldn’t believe a word from Netanyahu unless it came independently corroborated, double-checked and preferably notarised by the universe itself.
I listened to Ed Davey on the @BBCr4today this morning, and frankly, I think he missed the point.
The idea that we're keeping the triple lock to help millennials is at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting. I say that as a millennial.
The case for the triple lock is a worthy one - stopping pensioner poverty. I want that as much as anyone. But pensioners are now less likely to be in poverty than children or working age adults.
We talk about fairness, yet our answer is to give the same increase to every pensioner, treating the one choosing between heating and eating exactly the same as the one with millions in the bank. I can see no moral or fiscal case for above inflation rises for millionaires.
That money should go where it's needed most - to everyone in poverty, not just one group. It could help fund free personal care, a policy that would disproportionately benefit older people.
Ed is right that we shouldn't pit one generation against another. But intergenerational inequality is already one of the defining injustices of our time, and this would further entrench it. Worse, it gaslights an entire generation into believing it's for our benefit.
Telling millennials we're keeping the triple lock to help us in 30 years' time is nonsense. We're on course to be the first generation worse off than our parents. We're locked out of the housing market, paying higher taxes, repaying student loans that never seem to shrink, and putting off having children because of the cost of living.
I joined this party because I care about fairness and tackling inequality, and that has to include inequality between generations.
This line, and this decision, fails on both counts. Ed needs to think again.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton gave a well-connected attorney who admitted to s*xually abusing an 8-year-old boy over multiple years just a 30-day jail sentence — and let him avoid the sex offender registry. Now, Paxton is running for U.S. Senate against James Talarico with Trump’s backing.
blocked for this, @PaddyArsenal you’re a twat.
the prevalence of the ‘3000 years ago’ jokes, which originated in far-right circles, is horrifying.
they are antisemitic and don’t fall under legitimate criticism of Israel. SNL UK getting involved in them is particularly shameful
@moiazam@PaddyArsenal glad to know you’re comfortable using far-right racist insults as long as it’s directed towards Jews. you seem like a really righteous person Mo.
watching this back today, it’s quite obvious that Andy is simply a much better public speaker. no shade to Keir but it really was never his strength and that does make a big difference.
I will fight every day for the tolerant, decent, and respectful Britain I know.
If you incite racist violence and hatred, you are an enemy of national renewal.
@TPrincato you have no info about these people except that they no longer want to be publicly identified as Jewish because they’re scared. and your response is that it’s justified because maybe they flew a flag? (something you have 0 evidence for btw)
take a look in the mirror, please
@actionthejuice@JohnLyndon_ sickening comment. antisemites are the only people responsible for their antisemitism. don’t you dare shift the blame back to our community.
@TPrincato you keep pivoting to Israel. these are British Jews?!? i think you might just be an antisemite who’s too embarrassed to admit it to be quite frank
