@EberleBrent I never heard about redlining until this video but I found it really sad that the minorities were trapped in poverty while white people were able to end up having so much wealth to eventually pass down to their families.

“The disturbing history of the suburbs”taught me a lot about redlining.Redlining was a way of choosing who gets home loans. On the green side it was easy, but the red side consisted of African American minorities. Between 1934-1968,98% of home loans were given to white families.

One thing that really stuck out to me was that for 2 years in a row that in the amount of people who were nominated for an Oscar, all of them were white. I liked how they used black panther as an example about how diversity sells. I hope to continue to see a better representation

Intersectionality is the interconnected nature of social groups. This can include race, class, gender, etc. the video says it is “a central framework as we truly engage with issues around privilege and power and work to bring them into the open.” #socl214

I found “are the SATs racist” very intriguing because I’ve always known that the SATs can’t determine academic excellence and I was happy to learn more. This video made me realize that the SAT is just like any other test, except this test requires you to pay to study. #socl214

The difference between race and ethnicity is race is based on observable/ physical traits, while ethnicity isn’t. I found it interesting how she added in that 2 people of the same ethnicity can be different races, and that race is a social construct. #socl214
