If you're visiting SF and only pack shorts and a t-shirt, you're going to have a bad time. Mark Twain may not have actually said "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco" but he should have.

The #1 question I get from people moving to SF: "what neighborhood should I live in?" Every neighborhood has a completely different personality. Here's the breakdown:

I go to Golden Gate Park 1-2x a month and I'm still discovering new things. Lakehouse Jazz on Friday nights might be my favorite date night in the city. Here's my full local's guide:

SF is genuinely turning a corner. AI funding hit $122B in 2025, office leasing is up 62.8%, and crime is at a 23-year low. I wrote about what's actually changed (and what still needs work).

i will say that gen z is composed of radically talented outsized individuals or complete vegetables and basically nothing in-between.
this is clearly the result of the internet and i could not expect this trend doing anything other than accelerating with ai.
Don't wait for a better SF to magically appear. if it does, great, but the wheels of gov. move way too slowly for me. here's what we all can do to immediately improve the city, sans bureaucratic hoops.
1. Get dressed up in your fanciest clothes
2. Pick up and throw away trash
3. Shop in person
4. Eat in restaurants
5. Drink in bars and cafes
5. Work from the office
6. Go to the movies, theater and museums
7. Visit other neighborhoods
8. Pay the bus fare when you ride
9. Interact with people, from neighbors to visitors
10. Call the police or 311 when you need something addressed
11. Attend Board of Supervisors meetings and add your voice to the comments https://t.co/W4hd1gaY6U
this is just my list. agree or disagree, that's fine. what would you add?
@EricaJSandberg@DannySauter@Walgreens no, he is not claiming credit. i was really hoping he had magical persuasion skills for the rest of the 11 stores, particularly the one on Ocean Ave ☹️
🌪️🌊🔥🫨 Are YOU prepared?? In light of the recent warnings and sadly the LA fires, I put together a recommendation guide for emergency preparedness in SF. Got questions or tips? Let me know! https://t.co/liuYpPMa9D
Woah, only 1 week left to check out the SF Great Dickens Christmas Fair! Check out my write up here on whether it's worth going to or not 🎩 https://t.co/Z1yycWIG1m
@SusanDReynolds@TheMarinaTimes indeed, we are all entitled to our own opinions! I tried to write up a neutral guide to SF politics and would love your thoughts https://t.co/ewWy8vWaBk
