The dream of building a home in Tamil Nadu is being destroyed by rising construction costs. M20 grade concrete, earlier sold at ₹5,000 + GST, is now set to surge to ₹8,000 + GST due to higher aggregate and limestone prices.
The new ₹160/tonne limestone levy introduced in April 2025 has directly increased cement and concrete costs �. Ordinary citizens trying to build homes are bearing the brunt of these policies.

Being a common citizen, I don’t understand the logic: speeding up approvals but suddenly stopping material supply only hurts honest small builders, contractors, and daily‑wage labourers.
