Humility is the greatest virtue. Grateful husband, father, grandfather, Catholic Convert, Clemson Tigers. New and tremendous fan of Chief Justice John Marshall
Brother I am Catholic. I support Trump policies, particularly those of his Justice, State, Immigration departments. I voted for this. But I never resent anyone praying for our President, especially a President who has little concept of faith and decorum. It hurts me to see such shallowness from brothers in Christ.
When I converted- or as I was in the process of doing so, I was graced with a personal revelation regarding my faith. I was way overconfident in virtually every aspect I could understand. That was 17 years ago. I don’t pretend to be knowledgeable regarding theology and apologetics, I choose to trust the great Doctors of the Catholic Church.
@hellznobro@IndianaBrunner@AlitheiaKAT So your interpretation is different from that of the Catholic Church’s. There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing. I trust the Church’s teachings from scripture, rather than my own reasoning.
The Catholic doctrines on this are very indeed based on scripture. In fact, they carefully explain their conclusions using scripture. You are free to disagree with Catholic doctrine and to challenge it all you like.
Let’s ask Grok to research this particular issue… @grok, examining the works Thomas Aquinas, John Henry Newman, Theresa of Avila and Augustine what did they say about praying to angels and saints?
They’ll never recover from this magnificent beat down.
We stand firm on the unchanging word of God. That word commands that we honor those who have gone before us by imitating their faith, not by misrepresenting their words and venerating a lifeless trinket.
Michael he is the only Academy Award winning actor I ever met. We were in Athens Ga for a wedding and all staying at the same hotel- I believe it was 2008- a huge snow storm hit and Georgia was shut down. TCM host Robert Osborne was hosting a film festival at UGA . I was thrilled and huge fan of his. We were all stuck in an understaffed hotel and forced to eat together. He introduced me to Schell who was very gracious (he was with a beautiful young lady). Osborne noted my wife was from Alabama and I from NC and made sure we met Louise Fletcher, a native Alabamian who graduated from UNC.
