The Embassy team hosted a reception for Beijing-based foreign correspondents, bringing together media friends and our team for an informal evening of conversation, networking and sharing understanding.
We also welcomed our new Ambassador @VDoraiswami, who recalled working with the foreign media team in China decades ago, and welcomed media friends to continue the tradition with our team.

A good initiative: India’s new Ambassador to China @VDoraiswami speaking in Mandarin introduces the Indian Embassy and its services. A snippet of the video that’s up on Chinese social media

Today, India takes a defining step in its civil nuclear journey, advancing the second stage of its nuclear programme.
The indigenously designed and built Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam has attained criticality.
This advanced reactor, capable of producing more fuel than it consumes, reflects the depth of our scientific capability and the strength of our engineering enterprise. It is a decisive step towards harnessing our vast thorium reserves in the third stage of the programme.
A proud moment for India. Congratulations to our scientists and engineers.
The sinking of an Iranian corvette in Sri Lanka’s EEZ - tragic as it is - highlights the issue of neutrality in wartime. The vessel had left Vizag well before hostilities began, but must have known it would be hunted by US submarines in the IOR. Its crew likely understood that regional states could not offer harbour without appearing to take sides - an act forbidden for neutrals in war.
What appears to me is that in any cross-border conflict, aerial supremacy is likely to determine the course of battle. Without dominance in the skies, victory on the ground remains unattainable.
For NDTV, Prof Harsh Pant & I highlight the breakthroughs in India’s draft DAP 2026. It shifts from manufacturing to full ownership of defence tech. Imp changes include emergency buys, public-private partnerships & aggressive export goals to cut imports.

Rightly. States fall into two categories. Those where doctrine drives technology, and those where technology shapes doctrine. The US here is the former, maintaining its dominance. Yet, China presents a formidable challenge, despite US’s tone down. Interesting days ahead.
Point being, why was not every cabin luggage weighed and asked to be paid. Second, when I asked ground staff that I’m entitled for 15kg luggage so it be put in checkin luggage, he denied. Your both ground staff threatened me, and after I started recording then were mute.
