Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5:
https://t.co/JIhXN7OSh1
- Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session)
- Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads
- Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version
- HackerTube Longs ✊
A bit more on the process:
I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing.
Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.
@JJEnglert setup a weekly check for my girlfriend to monitor facebook marketplace for indoor plants/fish under $50, within a mile radius of her location.
My daily brief keeps 'not landing' and keeps 'getting fixed' but never actually gets fixed
I gave it a shot as well and ended up cancelling a monthly $8 charge that I didn't realize I was paying for.
Yes, I should be doing this on my own anyway. But thats the point: I didn't and, knowing myself, there's no way I would do it regularly.
My friend just saved over $1,000 a year because of Meta Muse.
I walked her (a non-techie who has never used an AI agent) through the Muse setup.
She connected it to Gmail, asked it to review all of her subscriptions.
It flagged a bunch she had no idea she was paying for - a lot were hooked up to an old Delta credit card on autopay.
She canceled Paramount+, Clear, Spotify Audiobook, a skin cream, etc.
She just saved $1,300 per year.
Start to finish was 22 minutes.
And that included changing her avatar to a sloth.
Interesting on two fronts:
1. Asians' use of chatbots compared to other races
2. Percentage using it for emotional support or advice and for companionship -- I thought that would be MUCH bigger

@Brazil201 Mine changed as well. Seems they've been rolling this out slowly since about a month ago. Not really sure why though? https://t.co/6yHfaM42BQ
@chengcheng7cc nope, im getting the same. For both opus and sonnet. Does this happen often? I just switched from chatgpt (paid), so not the best experience to start with
@conleyforpdx@uglyrobot@thesamparr The TL/DR is that ethnic Nepalis migrated to Bhutan (around 17th century). By the 1980s, they comprised around 20-25% of the population. Bhutan's govt + military forced 100,000 to flee to Nepal and live as refugees, under the 'one nation, one people' policy.
@fareesh@pmarca Although interesting, this map is made up. Could immediately tell why because China is 100% not the most hated country in Nepal.

🚨There is a map of ‘most disliked countries’ being shared widely on Twitter quoting ‘Alliance of Dem 2022’ as the source.
To be clear, this graphic is not based on our polling. We have never run a poll on most disliked countries.
@pmarca@bhorowitz While Trump has shown interest in retaining skilled graduates, his past policies have often imposed additional hurdles for high-skilled immigrants seeking employment in the U.S.
What policies do you expect to see from this administration in the coming months/years?
