@AndyStaples This part also seems important, if you're not just interested in making it look like Texas just buys players: “It didn’t really get that crazy; he was going to Texas the whole time,” they said. “I think he was using us to get the price up at UT, which I’m fine with."
Number one, it's a great product, as good as it gets—and number two, because @ElonMusk has devoted his energy and his life to doing this and I think he has been treated very unfairly…
@mattyglesias How much of "tariffs are bad" is inflationary pressure due to pass through, how much is due to threat of retaliatory tariffs, and how much is due to strong dollar and exports? Seems like #1 and #3 can't both really hold?
@Yair_Rosenberg I would add one more (smaller) point: I think the right-wing flank would have been outraged had this deal gone through under Biden (he let Hamas off the hook!), but Trump has them heeled
@SeanTrende I remember in 2020, the actual counted ballots were lower than estimated outstanding ballot counts and also I imagine some under votes. So I suspect fewer total ballots remain
@TPCarney Actually it's even more than just being charitable - I think the best thing for the country is to have a president say he did not want to call 50% of the electorate garbage. We should give him the latitude to walk it back
@AGHamilton29 to be that guy, sounds like he was going to say the garbage is the Trump supporters' demonization, then he switched it to "his" demonization, trying to lay it on Trump rather than on the comic who made the comments
@DinaPomeranz@NateSilver538 My guess is it's pr(harris wins pop vote) * (1 - p(harris loses EC | winning pop vote). I assume p(trump winning EC | trump winning pop vote) is essentially 1
